Special Speaker Cabinets

The Special SP-1 cabinet is
KWCABS flagship production line cabinet. You will find nothing short
of the highest quality in both design, materials, and workmanship.
While the highlight of all KWCABS are their solid hardwood construction the
special line takes that one step further and offers multi-wood construction.
It's the best of two worlds, two different woods combined to make a superior
and complex sound not found anywhere else. For instance the cabinet
shown at right offers the bold, tight, bright, well balanced complex
response of figured maple used for the top, bottom, and back, while the
sides and port supports are constructed of Goncalo Alves, a terrific
hardwood which offers a smoother more pronounced mid-range tone that mellows
out a touch of the brightness of the maple. Results like these could
not be possible using just one hardwood, and those results are astounding.
The tones that come from the SP-1 are nothing short of amazing. You're
guitar has never sounded so good. The SP-1 is a sure fire hit for any
style of music. It can handle anything you can throw at it.
However, if you're looking for a truly unique tone that sounds like nothing
you've ever heard look no further.
Of course the same solid design as the Standard line is used in the Special with one difference, the ports. In the photo below you can clearly the Signature W style ports that offer 5 triangular ports on the SP-1. This slightly different configuration is what offers the unique sound that the SP-1 is known for. |

The SP-1 is normally made with
Flamed maple and an additional exotic wood usually in the Group B pricing at
no additional charge. However, we use only 10 quality lumber in their
construction. A great example is a look at the wild figured maple on
the back of this SP-1 at left. They offer the same great features
found in all KWCABS, monster wiring, partly removable backs, recessed
handles, and more. Most SP-1 cabinets come loaded with choice Celestion® speakers
aimed at a particular tone to accentuate the woods used in their
construction. Speakers such as Celestion's® Century and
Century Vintage are often used, they are a truly unique speaker in their
own right that really capture the sound of rock that has made Celestion®
famous. These are a great all around speaker capable of many tones and
we consider them an upgrade from the standard Vintage 30s. Fantastic
offerings from Eminence, Fane, and Electrovoice are also often used.
